September 1, 2016

We have reached day 4 of our 5 day celebration! You can find our first 3 giveaways below.

  1. $50 Milk & Baby Gift Certificate.
  2. 4-Pack of Earth Grown Kiddough.
  3. Roar Minky Lovey.

Today we are featuring Mamabean Naturals! They make a variety of natural lotions and lip balms, along with Montessori and Waldorf-inspired wooden toy gift sets.

They have teamed up with us to give one lucky winner this “Acorn Faces” wooden gift set.

This shop is run by Mama Andrea. She is a homeschooling mama of two boys.

This manipulative set is called “Acorn Faces.” It’s the perfect time of year to break out these little acorns as Autumn arrives. Whether this is for a classroom setting or in the home, it can be used as a lesson, a daily conversation starter, or even an ‘in the moment’ tool. Seven different expressions have been wood-burned onto acorns that represent seven different feelings (happy, sad, angry, frustrated, curious, scared, and excited). A wood burned box stores all of the acorns and a wooden cup can provide a peek-a-boo game and display the feeling of the day. I designed this as a ‘circle time’ manipulative, but it can be used in any way that works best for your child. An 8 page booklet is included, beginning with an introductory poem about feelings on one side, and open ended/critical thinking questions on the other. Each feeling is represented in the book in the same manner, and they are color coded with watercolors to match their acorn. The book is laminated for protection. High emotional intelligence (EQ) is a predictor of many positive outcomes. Not only does identifying feelings help in the ‘now’, but it’s a lifelong skill. This set can help young children develop their EQ in a variety of ways: 1) the examples provided in the poems can be a source of modeling. 2) the set has been developed to help children identify their own feelings, but also feelings of other 3) the guiding questions provided can help parents/caregivers facilitate a problem solving discussion with children 4) some of the guiding questions evoke children to think about how other people feel. I hope you enjoy using this manipulative to explore feelings with your child.
